QSP Hardware Guidelines
Database Server
If running the MSDE edition of SQL Server, a minimum of 512 megabytes of memory
is recommended.
If running the Standard edition of SQL Server a minimum is 768 megabytes of
memory, with 1 gigabyte being the preferred starting point, is recommended.
40-gigabyte disk drive will be sufficient at the school cafeteria
installation.
For a QSPHUB installation the minimum would be an 80-gigabyte disk drive, with
more being required for larger districts.
It is recommended that the central office server be configured with at least
2 physical disk drives.
Every database server must have a backup device attached to it or it must be
part of a network setup that allows for servers to be backed up from a central
operations center. Including cafeterias.
Database Server Operating System
Windows 2000 Professional (supports MSDE), Windows 2000 Server (supports
Standard and MSDE editions), Windows XP-PRO (supports MSDE), or Windows 2003
Server (supports Standard and MSDE editions). Due to stability and support
issues we do not support running any edition of SQL Server on a computer running
Windows 98.
Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft SQL Server – SQL Server 2000 Standard edition or SQL Server 2000 MSDE
edition.
QSP Terminal
If running only the QSP application a minimum of 256 megabytes of memory is
required.
QSP applications require less than 1 megabyte of disk space.
