to this computer) is more convenient, but a network printer will work just as

A backup device to backup your data
files on a daily basis. This can be a writable CD (not recommended), Zip
drive (not recommended), tape drive, or any other backup device that is
compatible with your system. Since this computer is normally on the district’s
central network it can often be backed up by their normal nightly backup
processes to a device that is not attached to this computer.

It is not a requirement for this
computer to have a connection to the Internet; however, it is strongly
recommended. An Internet connection provides additional support and
troubleshooting capabilities.

A battery backup is not a requirement.
However, we strongly recommend one for this system.

Surge protectors are not required.
However, they can save your equipment from getting damaged by an unexpected
power surge.
